I
have a message for the LBGT community: I love you. You are a child of
God. But because I love you, I want you to avoid making your life
miserable. Therefore, if you are looking for a teaching job, don’t apply
at a Catholic school.
Catholic
Schools have morality clauses not in sync with a LBGT lifestyle. But you
already knew that. Barb Webb of Bloomfield Hills, MI knew that too when
she applied to work at the all-girls Marian High School. She was a
chemistry teacher and coach. She was also a lesbian in a same-sex
marriage. When Barb recently told the school about her “nontraditional
pregnancy,” they fired her.

is sad that Barb lost her “dream job” but I am weary of protestors—especially
fellow Catholics—making Barb and others like her out to be martyrs. Here
are points to keep in mind to avoid this kind of martyrdom in the future.

Catholic Church is not run by mob rule. We don’t vote and no one asks us our opinions.
Teachings come down from on high and don’t change. (Customs can
though.) We teach consistently and don’t sway with the wind.

”Nice” and “moral” are not synonymous words. Just because someone is nice, doesn’t mean they get
to trample over 2,000 years of Catholic teaching. Barb may be likeable but that
does not trump Catholic doctrine.

country until just a few years ago, the majority of Americans were against same-sex marriage. No one expected Catholics to dump their teachings back then and
they aren’t going to do it now. The right to religious freedom should
extend to the inside of Catholic schools.

Itwould be hypocritical of a Catholic school to ignore Catholic teaching. No one should respect a school that does
not practice what it preaches or totally ignores the Catholic teachings it is
suppose to represent.
Don’t
expect a religious organization to honor your lifestyle. If you don’t agree with the Church, don’t
apply at a Catholic school. Signing your name to a morality clause you
have no intention of honoring is dishonest, aka lying. Apply elsewhere.

Stop
Throwing around the terms “Human Rights” and “Social Justice” The Catholics did not just make up their
teaching on sexuality. If you want to protest justice and human rights,
take it all the way to the top and ask God why only a man and woman’s body fits
together and can create another human being.

send your children to a Catholic school and then protest Catholic teaching. You are training your children to
reject the Church. Millstones make heavy bling around your neck.

asked him: “Why do you persecute me?” Reject Church teaching and you reject
Jesus.

Liking
Facebook pages and talking to the news media against the Church’s teaching is a
bad idea. Your
children are watching you. Jesus is on Facebook and he watches the news

am baffled (not really) by all the negative response over Barb’s firing.
This is what the morality clause said. That teachers, “will not publicly
engage in actions, or endorse actions or beliefs contrary to the teachings and
standards of the Roman Catholic faith and morality.”

It is silly that people want to deny religious freedom to a religious
school. There is no surprise here, but there is propaganda and
rebellion. Other Catholic schools have also been hit with discrimination
lawsuits over the firing of teachers practicing a homosexual lifestyle.
Some people are just itching for a fight.

Barb announced her firing, she called on people to protest in a big
way. Oh, that reminds me, I forgot that one for my list: Protests do not change
Catholic teaching. Just ask Martin Luther.
Please
protestors, leave the Catholic schools alone. It’s not fair to bully Catholics
because they won’t teach something different than they have taught for over
2,000 years. I would not go to a restaurant and complain about what was
on the menu. I would not enter a Moslem Mosque and complain about…well, I
would not complain about anything there. Their church, their rules.
